Operation Graduation

Class of 2018

Ahoy parents of the Class of 2018! Believe or not, we are all parents or guardians of this year’s graduating seniors! A few of us have begun the process of organizing a successful campaign to have our future graduates enjoy a safe night of fun and games on their graduation night of Friday, June 1, 2018.  For those of you

that are not aware of what Operation Graduation is about, here is a brief explanation.

Operation Graduation is a 17 year old tradition in Oxford where the parents of graduating seniors work together throughout the school year to raise funds in order to provide their children with an all night party in a safe environment in which they can hang out with their classmates one last time as the class of 2017. The night is held at the YMCA in Westborough with parent chaperones and multiple activities throughout the night, along with gift bags for each student worth hundreds of dollars. The event is alcohol/drug free and includes transportation to and from the site.

In order to provide this experience to every member of the graduating class, an estimated amount of $17,000 must be earned! The more we make, the more we can provide for our kids. Past events included OMS dances, flamingo flockings, paint nights, grand tastings, murder mystery night, and a golf tournament. There is a lot of work to be done in order to coordinate these events and raise the money needed to provide this awesome night for our kids. All help is appreciated whether in the form of donations of food, supplies, money or time. Any and all connections to local businesses are so helpful in gathering items for raffle baskets and food donations.

We will be holding a meeting for all who can attend on August 10th at 6:30 pm in the conference room at the Oxford Police Department. At this meeting we will put together our governing board as well as volunteers to coordinate each event and function. Please let us know if you are interested in being involved but are unable to attend this first meeting. A Facebook page is being created to keep all members informed on upcoming events and needed support. Emails will also be used to keep everyone informed and involved throughout the year.
